The Great Cardboard Boat Race – Details and Rules
Entry fee: $20 per boat.
Race begins Sept. 2, 2017, 4 p.m. sharp. All boats must be lined up on the dock at the store area.
Compete to win in three categories:
The Most Appealing and Creative Design Award
The Best Dressed Team Award – Costumes may be funny, spiffy, elegant but overall creative
1st place winner of course!
The first place winner will be the one who wins the race determined by time. Winners will receive a trophy, dinner at the Galley restaurant and a basket of goodies!
All cardboard boats must be made entirely of corrugated cardboard and propelled by paddles, oars, etc. Use 100% recycled cardboard, any type of tape, flat paint and any materials for décor and the upper structure of the boat.
Items prohibited are wood, plastic, metal or wax coated cardboard.
No glue, plastic sheets or polyurethane paint.
Each team member paddling the boat must wear a life jacket, sign a liability release form and observe all rules and orders from our crew.
After the race all boats must be removed from the water.
